Photos: Overnight on a Junk Boat in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam

In March 2011, I traveled to Ha Long Bay during my Semester at Sea study abroad program.

Our ship docked in Ho Chi Minh City where I connected with my family and together we flew 2 hours north to Hanoi. We spent two days in Hanoi before driving 3 and a half hours to Ha Long Bay to spend a night on a junk boat. We had a tour guide organize our travel within Vietnam to maximize our time since I only had about a week due to Semester at Sea’s schedule.

Ha Long Bay is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. And that’s saying a lot since it was very dark and gloomy while we were there. It was so spooky during the day and at night, when all of the junk boats anchor, it was even eerier because of the complete silence.

Here’s a little photo throwback to my time in Ha Long Bay.
