Photos: Visiting India’s Taj Mahal

You know how in Despicable Me the bad guy steals all of the monuments and puts curtains in their places to fool people? Yeah, that’s what the Taj Mahal looks like!

When you enter into the grounds of the Taj Mahal and get a glimpse of its beauty for the first time, you will think it is a painting.

I visited the Taj Mahal in spring 2011. I was fortunate enough to see the it in all its glory, without any construction scaffolding. Currently, the Taj has been under renovation for several months.

As with most popular tourist attractions, there were a massive amount of people visiting the Taj. But it seemed like people were just as excited to see my friends and I and take a photo with us as they were the Taj. Especially the blonde girls in our group. People were handing them their babies and taking photos of them.  Huge families were asking to pose in front of the Taj Mahal with us.  I’m convinced my friend Brittany was in 10 Indian Christmas cards that year. I don’t want to embarrass any of my friends by sharing the videos I have of them being swarmed so just trust me, people were freaking out around our blonde friends! It was as if Britney Spears was walking the grounds of the Taj.

The moral of the story is if you want beauty with a side of humor, take your blondest friend to visit the Taj Mahal!

I had a thing for jumping photos back then. I was such a loser.
