These crazy winds and torrential downpours in New York City have me thinking about winter vacations. And while I’m not the biggest fan of Cancun, I am a huge fan of winter girls getaways.

If you’re looking for a fun, easy girls getaway to somewhere warm during these frigid winter months in New York City, I recommend Secrets the Vine in Cancun, Mexico. Literally everything you need is right there for you so you can focus on sucking back margaritas and working on a tan your co-workers will be jealous of.

The Room

We stayed in the Presidential Suite which had a massive balcony with some no joke views. The suite had one room with a king size bed and another with two queens, each with their own bathroom. It also had a large living room area and dining table with a full bar. There was a “butler” on the floor to help answer any questions or needs. We were also given two female butlers in their early 20s named Tamara and Daniela who made sure our vacation was pure girly fun the whole time!

As suite members, we got special access to the Preferred Club that has a private pool and separate bar/restaurant from the other pool areas. At a hotel this massive (and at full capacity), it was nice to have a quieter area to hang out.

The Beach

The sand in Cancun is some of the whitest I’ve ever seen. I mean, even from the airplane as we flew into Cancun, you could see it’s white as sugar.

You can walk for miles on the beach which is a must for me when picking a winter getaway. I love long walks on the beach. And no that’s not just a pick up line!

Note that there are a lot of people on the beach. Secrets the Vine has 497 rooms alone and there are countless hotels in the area. I personally wasn’t bothered by it but beware that this isn’t like Tulum. You’re not going to be the only one enjoying the sand. Cancun is for travelers who do not want to leave their resort for anything.

The Restaurants

We had a lot of delicious meals during our all inclusive stay. Most days we had lunch at Olio, the restaurant in the private pool area for suite guests, or the Sea Salt Grill in the main pool area. Our daily order was ceviche and fish tacos! We also took full advantage of room service for breakfast. Our dinners weren’t quite as enjoyable as lunch but were still delicious. And the all inclusive package makes it even more fun and easy to have a good night out! There are several cuisines to choose from including Asian, Mexican, Mediterranean, Italian or traditional seafood.

The Spa

After checking out the spa the first day, we knew we would be coming back! They have many treatment options from massages to facials as well as a sauna, steam room, hot and cool tubs and a relax room. We had Swedish massages and after sun facials. It was a great place to get out of the sun and truly relax on our vacation. I even fell asleep during one of my massages and woke to the masseuse shaking me awake. Oops! The spa has beautiful views of the beach and ocean. But again, beware that with a hotel this size, there were a lot of people in the spa area.

If you’re looking for an easy getaway for you and your girls, I would recommend Secrets the Vine. The all inclusive package makes the whole trip incredibly easy for a group and there’s no hassle. While it is crowded and therefore not for everyone, a crew of young people would definitely enjoy it!
